Sad time for UKIP Bishop Auckland

This week saw the funeral ceremony of our beloved Chairman Alistair Robertson which was very well attended by family and UKIP reflecting the respect and high esteem in which he was held. Our Regional Organiser Gordon Parkin attended, passing on condolences from Jonathan Arnott our MEP who unfortunately could not attend. A Eulogy was given by Rhys Burriss our past Parliamentary Candidate who read a touching passage from Richard Elvin our Sunderland Parliamentary Candidate who praised his dedication and ability to warm to all he met, before going on to add his own praise for the work that Alistair had done on several campaigns over the last few years and the degree of friendship that had developed.

Without doubt Alistair is a friend, supporter and keen political activist who will be missed by everyone and it is going to be difficult to replicate the quality time that Alistair invested in UKIP. At our monthly meeting on Thursday 26th Jan our Treasurer Betty Hopson said a moving prayer in his memory before the Chairman made sure that the minutes recorded the branches recognition of the great work done in the last few years as he oversaw the birth and early growth of our branch.
